The Bus of Many Things is the perfect venue for artists who are looking to take their skills and talent on the road. Getting out into the local community not only provides those that live in Test Valley the opportunity to appreciate and learn from your work, it also gives you, the artist great publicity. There couldn’t be a better or more economical way to get yourself out there!

For the BMT to exist as a flexible tool, for a wide variety of artists who all operate on different levels we have, naturally, designed the bus to also operate on different levels.
We intend it to be a long lasting sustainable project. For this to happen, the bus should have two main aims:
1. Exist as an art project in its own right
The bus is a curated and managed social archive project to work directly with the public. This is be an open-ended project managed specifically by CAS. It has its own aims, objectives, methods and evaluative processes. Importantly this provides a continuous purpose and identity for the bus while it operates under the guise of multiple users.
2. Work as a service provider.
The bus delivers services to the community. This is its staple function. It will provide a wide range of classes and activities. It can be used by all artists, as well as bookable (via BMT co-ordinators Be Wiser) by any creative group or individual in the community.
The two points are not mutually exclusive, and can support and inform each other. As an art project it must have its own self-contained raison d’etre, driven by a critical methodology, in a context that displays:
- community cohesion
- a research-led structure
- participatory content
- a response to the community
- a response to the TVBC public art strategy
- an experimental approach
We hope that artists will use the bus to develop their own particular work whether it be projects, educational experience, etc. and will work with us, sharing and contributing their thoughts, ideas and suggestions.
