Dovetail

Dovetail, the latest exhibition from Rums Eg Gallery in Romsey opened this Tuesday to great reception.

An exhibition of hand-crafted woodwork and furniture, it showcased the “the beauty, warmth and functionality of wood and the skills of the craftspeople who use it to make furniture, sculpture and functional pieces; using traditional and contemporary styles and techniques.”

The show was spread across three locations: Rums Eg Gallery itself, the Priory and the new mobile arts facility for the Test Valley  ‘The Bus of Many Things’

Using the bus as a one-night pop-up gallery, artist and conservator John Gardner displayed examples of his work with wood and paint as well as the charcoal he creates himself from wood burners in the New Forest.

The Quiet Volume/ Winchester Hat Fair 2015

7th July 2015 By busofmanythings

The Quiet Volume is a performance for two at a time, exploiting the particular tension of libraries, a combination of silence and concentration, within which different people’s experiences of reading unfold.

Taking cues from words both written and whispered, the participants find themselves burrowing an unlikely path through a pile of books leaking from one reader’s sphere into another’s.

Performance slots were available for two people at a time every half hour from 12pm – 6pm on Friday 3 July and 10am – 6pm on Saturday 4 July on a first come, first served basis (running time 1 hour).

The Quiet Volume was kindly supported by the Test Valley Arts Foundation and Oxfam Books & Music Shop, Parchment Street, Winchester.
